Secrets of the Dawnstone


Quests
Part 1: The Introduction

Requirements: Above -50 Reputation, 0 Days
Complete the "Dragon Rising" main quest and make the trip to High Hrothgar to meet with the Greybeards ("The Way of the Voice" (MQ105)).
Demonstrate your voice or cancel out of the request.
Find Aurlyn roaming the interior or exterior of the monastery.
Morning (6am - 11am), inside HH.
Afternoon (11am - 4pm), exterior HH.
Night (4pm - 10pm), inside HH.
Sleep (11pm - 6am), her home.
Note: 10pm-11pm time lapse defaults to sandbox behavior.
Introduce yourself to Aurlyn and convince her to leave High Hrothgar and follow you.
Note: Aurlyn’s home is inside of HH near the conference table.

Part 2: Mead Is Like Bottled Poetry

Requirements: 5 Reputation, 3 Days
At High Hrothgar, speak to Aurlyn by saying “I have some questions for you” then asking her “Is your composure just a facade?”
Go to an inn.
Speak to Aurlyn.
Select "You're always so composed! Why not relax and have a drink?"
Encourage her to have another round or tell her she’s had enough to end the quest.
If you continue, you will be warped to Blackreach and make be attacked so be ready to defend yourself.
Note: This is also a good opportunity to start "A Return To Your Roots" quest.
Ask Aurlyn "What did you do?" and say "Yes" to risk warping again or “No” to discontinue the quest.
You will be warped to Fallowstone Cave.
You will very likely be attacked by animals as soon as you appear so ready your weapons.
Speak to Aurlyn and say "You messed up again!"
Give her one more chance to try again or take your chances walking home which will discontinue the quest.
Speak to Aurlyn one last time and say "Looks like you managed to do it in the end."
Continue the remaining dialog with Aurlyn to complete the quest.
Rewards: You will be given First Light (25 magicka pts), Fires of Dawn (10% Frost Resist), and Heavenly Cluster as rewards. Heavenly Cluster gives the following custom spells: Celestial Radiance, Dawn Aura, Daybreak, Shining Fractal, Solar Zenith, Starlit Barrier, and Twilight Orb.
Note: First Light and Fires of Dawn are only active while Aurlyn is in your party.
Note: If you are role playing a non-magical character do not want the spells forced on you then don’t open the book.
Consequences: If you discontinue the quest at any time during Blackreach or Fallowstone Cave then you’ll lose some or all your rewards as well as losing the ability to use Aurlyn’s teleportation skill back to High Hrothgar.

Part 3: Glacial Epoch quest

Requirements: 10 Reputation, 7 Days.
Speak to Aurlyn and select "I want to discuss something with you."
Select "I'm curious about your past." then "I'm ready to hear about your past."
Listen about her past.
Select "I want to discuss something with you" again.
Select "Do you remember anything about your ancient past?"
Listen more.
Once she is done, select "There must be some way to find out."
She will mention deciphering an elder scroll by a moth priest.
Head to Winterhold College (you will need at least 30 gold if you cannot talk your way in).
Enter "Hall of the Elements" then turn right into "The Arcanaeum".
Speak to the Moth Priest then Aurlyn.
Head to Solitude to get a ship. You can get a ship in one of two manners:
Pay your way - Head to the Solitude docks and speak to Vittoria Vici's (if she’s still alive) or Aquillius Aeresius and give 5000 gold for a ship.
Steal a ride - Head to Solitude docks and board the Dainty Sload. Speak to Aurlyn after clearing the boat.
Note: If you plan on bringing additional followers for back up, now would be the time to recruit them because there is no going back once you hit Atmora.
Speak to Aurlyn as soon as you land.
Make your way through Atmora Ruins until you reach the battlegrounds.
Defeat the Mythic Dragon Conduit.
Speak to Aurlyn about the Conduit.
Speak to Aurlyn one more time and accept the amulet.
Board the rowboat, you’ll be returned to Solitude docks, and the quest is completed.
Rewards: Dawnstone Pendant.

Part 4: Ray Of Light conversation

Requirements:  15 Reputation, 12 Days
Speak to Aurlyn and say “Can We Talk” then "How did you come by your sword?"
Continue the conversation.
Select "At any rate, would you be willing to forge a sword for me?"
Rewards: You will be given Ray of Light (sword) and Elder Flame (staff)

Part 5: Armory

Requirements: 20 Reputation, 15 Days, Level 30.
Speak to Aurlyn and say “Can We Talk” then “Can I view your stash?”
Rewards: You will be given multiple items to purchase from her armory collection.

Part 6: Origin Story

Requirements: 25 Reputation, 20 Days, Glacial Epoch completed.
Speak to Aurlyn and say “I have some questions for you.” then say “Aren’t you cold in that dress?”
Continue the conversation. Select “That dress somehow doesn’t seem right.”
Continue the conversation. Select “Something must have happened to cause you to act in this manner.”
Select “Sounds like quite a story.” then “Sure.”
Select “How did you manage to live through being undone?” to finish the conversation.
Rewards: If completed successfully, unlocks marriage and additional follower paths.

Part 7: Darkest Awakening

Requirements: 30 Reputation, 25 Days, Glacial Epoch completed.
Leave High Hrothgar and go somewhere else.
Speak to Aurlyn and say "I have questions for you", "I had more questions" then "Any news of current events".
Repeat this process multiple times. She will eventually mention something about "one who walks like us" and "Dawn, Fire, and Dreams" (or just spam until "Any news of current events" stops showing up).
Return to High Hrothgar.
Listen to the exchange between the Thalmor Agent and Aurlyn.
Ask Aurlyn "Why did you attack that Dumner agent?"
Important note: Depending on how you respond, this quest will fork in two different paths (three if you include "I can't help you" which is null).
Quest fork: Fort Raldur
Say "Then I'll do what I can."
This should initiate Darkest Awakening quest.
Travel to Fort Raldur.
Kill all the Thalmor soldiers and wizards.
Find the Thalmor commander and speak to him.
This conversation will send you towards Solesteim to continue down the normal quest path.
Quest fork: Solesteim
Tell Aurlyn he did not seem like a true agent then accuse her of wanting to silence him. (There is a speech check here. If it's not high enough then you're directed back to the Fort Raldur path.)
This should initiate the Darkest Awakening quest.
Speak to Gjalund Salt-Sage and travel to Solstheim.
Go to Windsong Cave northeast of Fort Frostmoth.
Note: Do not bring too many followers because it is crowded.
Navigate to Lower Windsong Cave.
Speak to Nerevarine then Aurlyn.
Head to Time's End near Old Hroldan back on Tamriel (east of Markarth, just west of Rorikstead).
Listen to the exchange between Aurlyn and Nerevarine.
Fight Aurlyn.
Speak to Aurlyn one final time.
Quest completed.
Consequences: Aurlyn now becomes mortal.
Rewards:  Saddle upgrade for Eridani

Part 8: Marriage to Aurlyn

Requirements: 40 Reputation, 30 Days, Glacial Epoch completed.
During the Origin Story conversation ask Aurlyn “What’s your true outfit then?”
Follow normal procedure for marriage.
Rewards: Cohabitate Aurlyn’s home, Aurlyn’s “true form” outfit. Aurlyn can “resurrect”.

Part 9: Serenity

Requirements: 35 Reputation, 28 Days, Darkest Awakening completed, Origin story completed.
Go to Riften’s Honorhall Orphanage.
Ask Aurlyn “Can we talk?” then “Did you ever have any children of your own?”
Finally ask “Did you ever see her again?”
Get into Blackreach by whatever means.
Enter Sinderion’s Field Laboratory.
If not present, wait a bit for Serenity to arrive.
Introduce yourself and ask her to follow you.
Rewards: Additional follower, new items to purchase, Restoration training.
Note: Serenity does not return to Blackreach once she’s been added as a follower. If you forget to add her she will remain in Blackreach indefinitely. She will be added to your summoning spell once she’s made a follower however can only be summoned if she’s currently enlisted.
Find Aurlyn roaming the interior or exterior of the monastery.
Morning (6am - 11am), outside FIG.
Afternoon (11am - 4pm), Skaal village.
Night (4pm - 10pm), outside FIG.
Sleep (11pm - 6am), her home.
Note: 10pm-11pm time lapse defaults to sandbox behavior.
Note: Serenity’s home is at Frost Ivy Glade (north of Skaal village in Solsteim)

Part 10: Unnamed (spellsbenefit quest)

Reputation system
Vampire and Werewolf characters take a 15 pt penalty. Becoming mortal again gives the player back ½ credit for the penalty.
Sweetroll - Taking Aurlyn’s sweetroll will get a 25pt penalty.
Completing Aurlyn/Serenity quests nets a 3pt bonus.
Vanilla quests normally give 1pt bonus. Some quests give a penalty such as siding with vampires in Dawnguard.
Player-NPC relationship changes with reputation above 0. Relationship will drop no lower than “acquaintance” and no higher than “ally” (0-3).
Messages:
“XXX wants to spend more time with you.” Companion quest unlocked.
“Aurlyn seems very concerned about something” Glacial Epoch unlocked.
“Aurlyn is feeling very gracious.” Ray of Light sword unlocked.
“Aurlyn is in a sharing mood.” Armory unlocked.
“Aurlyn wants to talk to you.” Origin story unlocked.
“Aurlyn seems very apprehensive.” Darkest Awakening unlocked.
“Have you ever considered adoption?” Serenity unlocked.
“XXX wants to take things to the next level.” Companion is willing to marry.
“Find out what Serenity has been investigating.” Sins of the Mother unlocked.
Gifts
Pine Staff - crafted with emerald (flawless), iron dagger, firewood, and leatherstrips
Pie - cooked with beef, leek, mead, potato, and wheat
Blank Notebook - crafted with leather and paper roll
Sunflower Tree - found at the entrance of Time’s End cave (location of final DA battle)
Note: Gifts grant +5 reputation and can only be given once.
Books
Alchemist book - player learns all ingredient effects. Once per hour stamina is drained completely as penalty. Estimated game time is about 4.5 days.
CheatBook (Book of Foreknowledge) - Enables cheatmode. All rewards given, quests are failed. Found at Aurlyn’s stable. Cheat-mode gives instantaneous access to both characters and player suffers no reputation penalties.
Summon
Story-mode - 30% chance to summon hostile monsters when using skill. Number of hostile monsters increases @ 0.04% rate (every 25 casts).
Cheat-mode -30% chance to summon hostile monsters when using skill. Number of hostile monsters increases @ 0.06% rate (about every 15 casts).
Dragons and giants only spawn in exteriors (IsInInterior=0). All other hostiles spawn in either.
Mod Commands: Modifying the values can adversely affect your game. You break it, you buy it.
“Set AurlynDispositionCheckGlobal to 1”. Disposition updates when certain markers are hit.
“Set Aurl_Debug to 1”. Daily notifications of variables impacting reputation.
“set AurlynReputationGlobal to ##”. Changes Aurlyn’s reputation
“set AurlynDaysKnownGlobal to ##”. Changes Aurlyn’s days known
“set AurlynSerenityReputationGlobal to ##”. Changes Aurlyn’s reputation
“set AurlynSerenityDaysKnownGlobal to ##”. Changes Aurlyn’s days known
Battle Strategy (“Can we talk”/”Let’s discuss battle strategy”/)
Add/Remove sword - removes powerful sword
Add/Remove staff - removes powerful staff
Add/Remove armor - removes armor and cape so Aurlyn/Serenty will equip custom gear.
Kill stealing - Lowers mana and health slightly so Aurlyn’s is less powerful overall.
Chaotic War Helmet of Solstice - Christmas hat
Mounts - sends mounts home or leaves them at current location based on setting when not mounted.
Enchantments
Sword (general): 15pts fire damage, 15pts absorb health to undead. Absorb health bonus: 3pts@lvl30, 6pts@lvl45, 9pts@lvl60, 12pts@lvl80. Total AH damage: 30pts. Applies to player sword, Aurlyn clone, Burning Vengeance.
Sword (Aurlyn): 15pts fire damage (day), 15pts chill damage (night). Bonus 1hr crossover of both @6am and 6pm. 5pts absorb health to undead. Absorb health bonus: 3pts@lvl30, 6pts@lvl45, 9pts@lvl60, 12pts@lvl80. Total AH damage: 30pts. Applies to Aurlyn’s sword.
Changing Hairstyles
Use Wrye Bash to set Aurlyn as an ESM. You will need to set the Aurlyn base file as master. If you made changes to Aurlyn mod, reinstall it again before changing its state.
Exit Wrye Bash. Set your MO so that you have a clean profile (reduces the amount of errors).
Enable Aurlyn, your hair mod, and your race morph mod (e.g. Racemenu) and any dependencies.
Open CK. Tick Aurlyn but do NOT set it to Active. Make a minor edit to Aurlyn NPC record (e.g. increasing the Calc Min Stat).
Save your ESP file and give it a name. Exit CK.
Go into your MO overwrite folder and move the new ESP to your new patch facegen folder.
While you are here (in the Overwrite folder) be sure to clean up any Meshes or Texture files that are generated from previous attempts.
You should now have an ESP file and Meshes, and Textures folder.
Note: This is your base version. This is what you fall back on if something goes wrong.
Create a copy of your base version folder. Note: This will be your working folder.
Copy the hair and hairline mesh files and texture files from the hair mod to your working folder (meshes/actors/character/aurlyn/hair).
Note: I have no idea how this works with Apachii so you'll need to figure out if there are two hairlines needed or just one.
Rename the meshes to ""hairstyle", "hairline", and "hairline2".
Copy the texture files associated with the respective mesh to the working folder (leave folder structure intact).
Copy 00005903.NIF into Overwrite/SKSE/Plugins/CharGen/ and add "_original" to the filename.
Copy "AurlynNewFace.jslot" from Aurlyn Info/Aurlyn and Serenity Facial Presets to Overwrite/SKSE/Plugins/CharGen/Presets.
Load Mod Organizer.
Enable the working folder mod (not the base version).
Launch CK and reopen the ESP.
Go to Character\Headpart.
Set Aurlyn's hair, harline 1 and 2, brows, head, and eyes to playable.
Save and exit CK.
Run Skyrim.
Strip naked and launch the creation menu.
Set race to High Elf, Female, weight 0.1 (10).
Go to PRESETS. Load Preset. Import Aurlyn's head jslot.
Go to SCULPT. Import Head. Import your saved head.
Go to HAIR. Set the hair to AurlynHairHP (your mod name should appear).
Note: If the hair isn't what you selected in the earlier steps then you messed up by picking the wrong one.
Return to SCULPT. Export head and create a name for it (dissimilar to Aurlyn's refID).
Exit the game.
Copy the exported head nif to the working folder.
Open up both the working folder and newly exported head Nifs with NifSkope.
Highlight "AurlynHairHP" and rename it to "HairFemaleElf06" (Edit String Text) in the exported head nif.
Highlight "AurlynHairlineHP" and rename it to "HairlineFemaleElf06". (Edit String Text) in the exported head nif.
Highlight "HairFemaleElf06" and copy the branch from the exported nif to the original nif.
Repeat for "AurlynHairline2HP".
Note: You only need to copy over the renamed "AurlynHairlineElf06" if it is different than what is already in the original (e.g. changing race or hair mod).
Remove the branch of the original "HairFemaleElf06" and "AurlynHairline2HP".
Save the original Nif and exit NifSkope. Exit the exported Nif without saving.
Disable the Racemenu and your chosen hair mod.
Launch the game and confirm the hair and color are what you selected and the hair isn't translucent.
If everything is working then congratulations now it's time to clean up.
Go to your mods directory and delete the base version folder you created. Go SKSE\Plugin\Chargen and delete all the files used for creating the patch.
Go into CK, launch your patch, and reset whatever stat you originally changed in Step #4.

Theoretically you should simply be able to open the original hair and hairline nifs, rename the strings to match Aurlyn's, then copy the blocks individually into Aurlyn's head nif after copying and renaming the nif files to hairstyle.nif, hairline.nif, and hairline2.nif. However these are the prerequisite steps to making facial and body changes (with the fat trimmed out). These steps should make your hair change independent of most changes to Aurlyn mod with the exception of changes to her NPC record. It'll be your job to make sure your customized patch stays compliant with any future changes to Aurlyn. I won't fix it for you or help you troubleshoot any problems that arise from your customized version.
